LATIN KINGS
Considered to be one of the top 3 security threat groups in Massachusetts
prisons. Founded in the 1940's by a small group of Hispanic in the Chicago,
Illinois area, the purpose of the organization was to help the Hispanic
community achieve a better way of life by preserving the Hispanic culture and
promoting education. However, the Latin Kings have evolved into a nationwide
criminal organization with chapters in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island,
New York, New Jersey, Florida, California, Illinois, Delaware, Pennsylvania and
Georgia.
- Colors: Black and gold/yellow
- Symbols: A "Crown" for "King" with 3 or 5 points. They also make exclusive
use of the trademark symbol known as the "master" often with a tear drop.
LOS SOLIDOS
Formed in CT from Savage Nomads and Ghetto Brothers gang in 1990-1991. In MA
DOC,membership is male inmates (primarily hispanic, some white and black
inmates) mainly from the Western MA area with a few from other cities such as
Worcester, Boston, Framingham, Lawrence, Fall River, New Bedford, and Lowell.
- AKA: Solidos, Solids colors: blue and red (bead sequence 3 red, 3 blue)
- Symbols: TSO (for The Solid Ones), LSN, OFO (for Original Family
Organization), Solid, BSDS (for Born Solid, Die Solid), SFFS
- Rivals: (in MA DOC) Latin Kings (MA ALKQN), La Familia
NETA (nye-tah)
Considerd to be one of the top three
security threat groups in Massachusetts prisons. Established in the
1970 by an inmate serving time in Rio Piedras Puerto Rico. The word "NETA" is
pronounced nye-tah. The group refers to themselves as an association formed to
stop violence between inmates. However the group is a tight knit group, who
looks to protect their membership's interest and activities which include
extortion and assaults. In the community they are active mostly in Western
Massachusetts.
- Colors: Red, white and black
ORIENTAL STREET BOYZ
Street gang, members in MA DOC primarily Cambodian male inmates from Lowell MA.
Crip affiliation, have conflict with gangs claiming Blood affiliation (color
red).
- Colors: blue symbols: OSB, OB, OBB
SAIGON BOYS
Southeast Asian street gang from Boston area. In MA DOC, members are
Vietnamese males mostly from Boston.
SWORN BROTHERS
Street gang, members in MA DOC are Southeast Asian male inmates (mainly
Cambodian) from Lowell MA.
Aka: STREET BOYZ colors: blue; (wore blue bandanas in 1993)
- Symbols: SB, spider between thumb & index finger, SBZ
- Allies:"Lil Sworn Brothers" aka LSB
